We're almost three months into 2024, and as you may, or may not notice (I mean, why would anyone notice?), I haven't been nearly as active on Newgrounds as I was last year. And actually, I think I'm better off that way. I got to focus on my personal life a lot more than on my online presence. Something I didn't do as much last year. My art motivation is currently low, but I also got into stuff I've been ditching for a long time now, so art isn't my top priority as of now.
What's the point of this post? For the one person who really does care about the anonymous internet user that is me: don't expect much from me this year. I'll maybe publish movie projects, but even that I doubt.
2023, my first full year here comes to an end, so here's an overview of it. (spoiler: a lot happened)
My first submission of the year was this one, featuring all of my characters (at the time):
..Okay, it wasn't my first submission of the year. The true first one was a reference sheet of Ben, but it's been since deleted, so this is my earliest submission from this year still up.
This year also saw my first cartoon, The Apple.
A little fun fact about it: When I made it, I didn't make the scenes separately, I did it all in a big mush of layers. Was pretty hard to work with.
This year I also discovered one of my favorite threads in the forums: the OC Plaza!
I drew tens of characters on that thread. So much so, that I have a collection of them!
While I was picking clips from my cartoons for a compilation (you'll see in the coming days), I remembered that one time I tried to make an action music video using Waterflame's Glorious Morning...
...I guess my life is now back to normal. This is a follow-up to my last post, and I'm glad to say this week has been much better than the last (if anyone even cares), but boy, was this week a busy one. I have plans for a (big) project. It's in a very early state, though, and I hope I can actually make it happen.
I... guess I reached a ""milestone"" (using that word loosely).
Now, this is usually the part where I'm supposed to say how grateful I am to be here and how this site has made me better, but, I'm going to be honest, my life has actually gotten kind of worse. Newgrounds, of course, isn't the only thing responsible to my deterioration, but I feel like it had a part in it. I miss not constantly thinking of stuff that has no effect on my real life.
I should step down in site engagement. It's now the perfect time to do so, with 8 days off school.
Not blaming anyone in particular, by the way. I just wanted to point that up.
